small change (1)

I think most of us are holding on a little tighter to our wallets these days. I consider myself extremely blessed that Nate and I have decent paying jobs, and have more luxuries than we deserve. Even with all the extras we are feeling the pinch....and need to do something about it.

I've decided to start with a small change. To challenge myself and, whomever else is interested, into making daily changes that will leave an impact on each other, the earth, and our wallets, hopefully.

Something simple like making coffee or tea at home, instead of stopping by the coffee shop (which is one of my favorite things to do!) is how I'm starting off this small change challenge. Right now I'm sipping a sugar-free hazelnut latte that I made myself, and it's pretty tasty.

I can save over $650 a year, if Nate and I stop going to coffee. (I figure 2 drinks at $3.25 each two times a week). $650!??!! That's insane!

I'm also guilty of buying water.....which is so silly. Ten years ago nobody would have payed $3.25 for a bottle of water. Instead, I'm switching to good old nalgene bottles that I can reuse.

It is during these tough economic times that I realize how much more frugal I can be and should be. So, here is to my first small change....with many more to come!

Great ideas! Might I suggest a "Sigg" bottle (look it up on google or at REI) rather than a Nalgene. The Sigg is a little more expensive, but it is better for your body because it doesn't leech those nasty chemicals from a plastic bottle. I have one, and I love it. Just a thought=)

Thanks Patricia! I'm taking my REI gift card and getting one :)
Lots of fun colors on the Sigg too!
